You’ll also drop into the backcountry of Tibet, with a day hike around the crystal theater of Lake Yamdrok. This tour also allows you to explore the historic Tashilunpho Monastery, the breathtaking Ganden Monastery, and the awe-inspiring Kumbum Stupa.

Daily Itinerary

Welcome to Tibet! Upon arrival transferred to the hotel. Better not do any activities at the first day in order to acclimatize Tibet environment. Better to drink some water and have a good sleep for next day’s holy sightseeing excursion.

This morning we visit Potala Palace, the highest palace in the world. Afternoon we bid a tour for glistening Jokhang Temple, which has been built for 1400 years. After then, stroll around the bustling bazaar in Barkhor Street, a big market with its prolific stalls for selling specialties. It is the ancient part of Lhasa.

Today's highlights are Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery.


Sera Monastery


Drive to Gyantse in the morning (270 km and it takes around 4-5 hrs). On the Ganba La (4,796 m) have a fantastic view of the holy lake of Yamdrok Yumtso (4441 m). Upon arrival, have a tour to Pelkor Monastery and Kumbum Stupa and then head to Shigatse (90km away, around 2 hours’ driving). You will visit the Tashilumpo monastery which is the main attraction of Shigatse.

Today we drive southward to the highest monastery of the world- Rongbuk Monastery (100km, 2-3 hrs). We are getting closer to Mt. Everest from now on. Taking carriage (self-paid) or hiking up to the base camp, you will have a comparative close view of the highest mountain in world.

Today we will drive back to Lhasa city (5000km, 8-9 hrs), other time is free for you, and you can buy some presents for your friends or your family.

Airport or train station transfer: The free airport pick-up is at 3:20 p.m. These are the most common times in and out of Lhasa, but if you would like to schedule a different time enter/leave Tibet we will be happy to arrange that. Please ask your travel consultant for the price.

Vehicle Rental & Driver: All of our vehicles are well maintained and safe. Our drivers are experienced in driving in the Tibetan landscape. Vehicle type will be arranged according to group size.

Travel Permits: All Tibet traveling permits.

Entrance Fees: All entrance fees listed in the itinerary, (except optional sites) including vehicle and personal entry permit for Qomolangma Nature Preserve
