Overview

Tsedang, the capital of Shannan Prefecture,locatesin south of Tibet. With beautiful natural sightseeing and rich culture, it has a lot of places of interests to see, the traditional monasteries, beautiful land and local people. So this 6-day tour is best designed to know about Tibetan culture.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Chengdu/Tsedang [B]

Upon arrival at airport, be greeted and offered a white scarf (called Kada) in a Tibet traditional way which brings you good luck. Then drive to the city proper (3650 m). Stay at the hotel for adapting to the high attitude upon your arrival. It is helpful to take things easy for the first few days, and try to drink more water than before.



Tsedang

In the morning, make a trip in the Yarlung valley to visit the Yumbulakhanga medieval-European castle-like structure, reputed as Tibet’s oldest building. It doesn’t take that long to explore Yumblagang, perhaps the best part of the visit is the walk up along the ridge abour the building. There’re fabulous views of the Yarlung valley. Then have a tour to Mindroling Monasatery and Trundruk Monastery.


In the morning drive further to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. Have a tour to Samye Monastery en route


Yumbulakhang


Visit Potala Palace for the whole morning, then in the afternoon, have a view of the Jokang Monastery, then walk on the Barkhor street surrounding Jokhang, a big free market with its prolific stalls for selling local specialties.

1. Potala Palace and Jokhang Monastery: Immerse yourselves into the Tibetan religion and sense the unique culture.

2. Barkhor Street: stroll around an interesting market featuring Tibetan, Nepalese local products


Samye Monastery


Visit Tibet Museum in the morning, later after lunch, visit Sera monastery. We can do the Sera Kora walk of about 1 hr and then catch the famous debate session of the monks before returning back to Lhasa. Overnight in Lhasa city.


Potala Palace


Departure transfer to see off. Tour services end.

Airport or train station transfer: The free airport pick-up is at 3:20 p.m. These are the most common times in and out of Lhasa, but if you would like to schedule a different time enter/leave Tibet we will be happy to arrange that. Please ask your travel consultant for the price.
